Golf, unlike other ball games doesn't have a normal playing field. Therefore, it is crucial to be able to cope with different terrains and play on different courses. A course usually has 18 to nine holes. These are areas of land with cups, which mark the location where the ball is dropped. Every hole on a course has a teeing area to begin with, and putt greens that contain the cup. There are several standard forms of terrain between the tee and green, including the fairway rough (tall grass) and various hazards like water, rocks or bunkers that are filled with sand. Each hole on an golf course is different. It can be played in stroke play or match play. Stroke play is the most popular form of play, particularly at the elite levels.
